What bicycles do we accept in trade?

We only accept bicycles that were originally sold at a bicycle shop, and only those where the repair cost is justifiable. We want our refurbished bikes to be affordable AND dependable, therefore, the categories of bikes that we don’t accept are:

  • Department Store Bikes

  • Bicycle purchased online through Amazon or Bikes Direct

  • Bikes for which the cost to fix approaches or exceeds the refurbished value of the bike.

  • Bikes that have significant damage to the frame, such as cracks, major dents and/or paint, stickers or rust, or seized components, etc.

  • Bikes with worn out suspension forks or worn suspension linkages

Why should I trade in my bike?

Trading in your bike is a great way to reduce the cost of getting on a bike that is new to you. Not to mention, it decreases waste and provides lower cost alternatives for those unable to afford a brand new bike.

What will I get for my bike?

We do all of our trade-in/buying assessments in person in the store. We never estimate a price range before looking at a bike in person because its overall value is so dependent on the internal condition of components. Our assessment process goes as follows:

  1. We determine the Refurbished Bike Value, which is what we will sell the bike for after we’ve fully restored it.

  2. Once the Refurbished Bike Value is determined we subtract the Cost to Fix (value of parts and labor needed to return the bike to a guarantee-able condition) to get the As-is Value of the bike. We generally replace anything that is more than half worn so that we can guarantee the condition and functionality of the bike and is usually a much more exhaustive process than what one would expect.

  3. From the As-is Value we usually offer two options. The Store Credit Offer, which is 1/2  the As-is Value, OR the Cash Offer which is ⅓ the value of  the As-is Value.
